Palm Springs Unified School District said it participated in this year’s PS?NExT Summit at the Palm Springs Convention Center, where the event focused on new experiences in technology.

The district said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marcus Funchess joined College of the Desert President Val Martinez Garcia and CSUSB Palm Desert Campus Dr. Edna Martinez for a panel discussion on generative AI perspectives, challenges and hopes.

After lunch, PSUSD teachers Jessica Pack and Donielle Papp joined COD instructors for a discussion on AI in the classroom and how to navigate new technology for scholars.

PSUSD Board of Education Vice President/Clerk Charlie Ervin and Board Member Madonna Gerrell attended the sessions along with high school scholars and district staff. The district also said a group of PSUSD middle school scholars took part in the event’s GenJam, working with AI to create films, music and art.

PSUSD said some of the GenJam creations will be shown at the closing showcase tomorrow. The district also thanked the City of Palm Springs Office of Economic Development and the Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity.
